A Tale of Two Drainage Jobs

Drainage jobs can look similar on the surface (or in the trenches), but each project comes with its unique challenges. Two of our current drainage jobs are for Decmil on the Warrego Highway at Chinchilla, and Shamrock Civil at Wacol. Vastly different site conditions have required us to take a different approach for each.

Chinchilla

At Chinchilla, our crew has been working alongside rail and a busy highway with heavy vehicle traffic and lots of underground services. The ground conditions there are very sandy, and they have had to dig down to approx. 4 metres in some places.

Wacol

Wacol, on the other hand, has extremely rocky ground. Thankfully, we have only had to dig down to 2 metres on that site! The traffic hasn’t been due to roads, but to many other subcontractors which has required careful planning and communication.

The use of shoring boxes ensured worker safety and prevented trench collapse.
Extremely rocky ground required the use of a Rockbreaker to stay on schedule
