It is no accident that we have such a strong team of multi-skilled operators. We support our staff to gain as much training as possible as this gives us greater flexibility; allowing us to schedule for multiple concurrent jobs and to mobilise quickly when necessary. We currently have 25% of our staff working towards an apprenticeship; and with some staff recently experiencing a lull between projects, we have made the most of the down-time by providing them with CPR, First Aid and Traffic Management training.
Travis Shilg is an example of how our training regime benefits the company and our workers. Travis was a fruit-picker before he joined us as a casual labourer in 2013. Since being made permanent in 2014, we have provided Travis with the following training:
- Cert III in Civil Construction
(Plant Operations - Cert III in Pipe Laying
- Cert III in Civil Construction
(Road Maintenance) - Dogging training
- 4WD training
- First Aid training
- Confined Spaces training
- Work Safely at Heights training
Travis is now a leading hand working on our drainage crews. He has become our best pipe-layer and aims to be a supervisor in the future.

We think the investment has been worth it, and look forward to seeing how far he will go.
