As part of their Rest Area Mass Action Upgrade project, the Department of Transport and Main Roads sent out invitations to tender for different regions in the state. Joe Wagner Group successfully tendered for eight rest areas in the South West region.
Works included:
- Excavation, grubbing and clearing
- Demolition of old structures and concrete slabs
- Installation of modular toilet blocks, shade shelters andpicnic tables
- Installation of concrete pedestrian pathways
- Installation of solar street lighting
- Upgrading and resealing of carparks
- Installation of fencing and road signage
- Traffic management
The fact that so many rest areas were being upgraded at once posed logistical challenges in regards to material supply and specialist contractors. However, staggered programming by our project manager ensured that the rest areas were completed on time with no LTIs.
